While most infants in Brazil's five regions are vaccinated against tuberculosis, the search for a more effective Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine accelerated in 2024. 
Researchers from the Butantan Institute and collaborators confirmed on July 3, 2024, that they are developing a more potent version of the 100-year-old BCG vaccine.

According to Stefan Merlo, Vice President of Commercial Operations, North America, CSL Seqirus, pharmacies in the United States will soon offer updated flu shots.
Mr. Merlo exclusively informed Precision Vaccinations News that as of July 9, 2024, CSL Seqirus was already shipping its differentiated influenza vaccines for the 2024/25 Northern Hemisphere flu season.
"This year, we've transitioned to trivalent vaccine formulations, aligning with U.S. FDA guidelines."

According to a new study from FAIR Health, those aged 65 and older were the group with the most significant increase (23.8%) in sexually transmitted disease (STD) diagnoses from 2020-2023.
Among the other FAIR Health findings, people 65 and older had the most significant increase (32.2%) in human papillomavirus (HPV) diagnoses.
Furthermore, 21.9% of HPV cases occurred among patients aged 55 to 64.
However, Fair Health's data did not disclose if these HPV cases were in adults who had been vaccinated, when they were vaccinated, or were unvaccinated.

The Journal of Infection recently published insights on how vaccination can reduce the incidence of gonorrhea, a common sexually transmitted disease. Gonorrhea is one of the fastest-growing diagnoses by percent change (16.8%).
This new study's findings indicate that MenB vaccines may offer moderate protection against gonococcal infections.
